Deputy Andy Taylor of Llano, while conducting a traffic stop died
after being shot in the head. The shooting happened Sunday night in
Kingsland, which is a town of about 4,600 located 45 miles northwest
of Austin. Taylor pulled a vehicle over near the intersection of
Skyline and Dilley Street at approximately 2310 hours, After Deputy
Taylor called in a the vehicle and a license plate, he was not heard
from again, a nearby resident in a mobile home saw the deputy lying
still in the road and called police. When they arrived they found
Deputy Taylor had been shot once in the head. Deputy Taylor was
transported to the hospital where he died the next day from his
wounds. The suspect was on parole for a previous robbery conviction
and had violated the terms of that parole. Deputy Taylor had served
with the Llano County Sheriff's Office for 3 years. Investigators
used Taylor's last radio transmission to track the accused shooter.
Eric Richard Wolfe, 30, was captured Monday in the wooded area of
Cedar Point. Sheriff's deputies say Wolfe has what appears to be a
self-inflicted gunshot wound. He is at Brackenridge in "critical"
condition. Investigators are trying to determine what led to the
shooting.

Andy,
You were always like a brother to me and you will be missed deeply. I have not stopped wondering why the last few years we haven't talked as much, but we both went our own ways and did other things. I will always miss you, and will always remember you.

The easiest way for evil to triumph, is for good men to do
nothing....Edmund Burke. There are people who think that we do the
job to be heroes, or for personal gain. They could never understand
that it is about the person next to you.

It is abundantly clear that ALL of your fallen officers shared a
common thread - they were of the highest caliber yet modest and
unassuming in the approach of their duties. I believe that for as long
as such
men and women patrol your streets with such commitment and
professionalism, then you have much to be proud of. My heart goes out
to all the bereaved families, but be assured, there is someone in
"every" corner of the world who cares!
